KUALA LUMPUR: Actress Maya Karin describes rumours that she was the “third party” in Setiawangsa Member of Parliament Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad’s divorce as “ridiculous”.
In a news report today, she said that she had nothing to do with Nik Nazmi’s private life, even though they were friends.
“I make friends with actors, singers, even politicians, such as Nik Nazmi. And I believe it’s good to get to know politicians because they can help to champion causes like environmentalism,” said Maya in a news report today.
The 39-year-old Harum Sundal Malam star said that she did not know how that “story” cropped up in cyberspace.
“This is not the first time in which Netizens linked me to politicians. I’ve got used to it!” said Maya, adding that she wished Nik Nazmi and his ex-wife Dr Imaan Abdul Rahim well.
“I pray that Nik Nazmi and Dr Imaan will face this challenging time with fortitude.”
Nik Nazmi, 37, and his wife Dr Imaan, 36, were divorced at the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory Syariah Court yesterday.
They had been married for 14 years.
