#Showbiz: Sexed-up marketing is just plain offensive, says Siti Sarah

KUALA LUMPUR: Singer Siti Sarah is upset with some online sellers who promote their business using unnecessary and inappropriate suggestive approach in order to get the desired attention and business volume.

She said local online sellers should not be pushing their products by following in the footsteps of those who extensively use sex appeal to market their products.

In a video posting on Instagram today, the 35-year-old artiste said that potential buyers should not be blamed for feeling confused as to the products that were being sold by some of the sellers.

"As a Muslim Malay woman, I need to state my stand on such degrading gimmicks. There are just too many of them out there who have crossed the line, in the most unflattering ways which do not reflect our true Eastern cultures.

"There's really no need to jump up and down, shaking the body parts, or showing sensual bedroom photos just to sell your products. I may not be perfect, having made a lot of mistakes in the past, but I don't think I'd behave in such a way then, for attention," she said.

Sarah who has since ventured into business selling cosmetics and her hijab collection, said that she could still make profit without having to be scantily-dressed in front of the camera.
