#Showbiz: 'There were tears running down her cheeks' - Shuib

KUALA LUMPUR: Popular comedian Shuib Sepahtu managed to make one last video call yesterday to his ailing wife Siti Sarah Raissuddin who was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, before she breathed her last early this morning.

The 37-year-old artiste said that he and his three children, Uwais Alqarni, 10, Dzahira Talita Zahra, 8, and Ariq Matin, 6, could see tears streaming down the cheeks of his late singer wife during the video call.

"With the help of the nurses and doctor, I was able to make the video call and that was the last time my kids and I would lay our eyes on her while she was still alive.

"At the time, I saw tears streaming down her cheeks, as if she understood what we were saying to her.

"I was at the hospital later after the kids had gone to sleep and completed a Yassin recital, as well as prayers for her last night.

"However, I was not permitted to see her. I then returned home," he said in a news report today.

Shuib, whose real name is Shahmira Muhamad, said that he accepted the passing of his 36-year-old wife.

"It's just that it will be really challenging for me to break the news to my three kids on the death of their mother," he said.

Her remains will be laid to rest at Tanah Perkuburan Islam, Kampung Sungai Pusu in Gombak, this afternoon.

"When we talked about things relating to death before, she had asked to be buried next to her late mother's grave," he said.

Shuib added that he would take care of his four children well.

"She had gifted me with Ayash Affan who was born last Friday. She fought hard to save our baby.

"The name Ayash Affan was her choice, through her reading she said that it related to a fighter in the Gaza region," he said.

Siti Sarah who died at 5.13am today had been fighting for her life against Covid-19 for the past 48 hours after doctors put her in an induced coma.

She was put to sleep in order to extract her baby via surgery at 5pm last Friday.

On July 27, Siti Sarah had confirmed that she and her family had all tested positive for Covid-19 at home.

Although Shuib and her three children had later tested negative for the virus after a 14-day self-quarantine, the seven-month pregnant Siti Sarah had to be rushed to hospital in an ambulance due to low oxygen levels last Wednesday.
