KUALA LUMPUR: Although Korean actor Lim Jae-hyuk has now close to 800,000 followers on Instagram after starring in the hit Netflix zombie horror series All of Us Are Dead, he still does part-time jobs to survive.
According to Asia One, the 27-year-old artiste revealed in a recent South Korean variety show that his bank account balance remains roughly the same.
"Apart from the drama doing well, there's nothing special that has changed about my bank account. I spend about 1 million won (RM3,460) for a month's rent and living expenses, so I'm only working to earn that much.
"The monthly rent is about 400,000 won (RM1,384) a month, so I only have to do five part-time courier jobs, and I can work for a week or two to earn 600,000 won (RM2,076) a month for living expenses," he said in an episode of You Quiz On The Block.
Some of the various part-time jobs that the actor has tried include working at a fish store, a butcher's shop, a mart and being a waiter.
Lim shared that he had even worked recently as a designated driver and recalled a particularly difficult incident.
"I had to deal with a drunken person, so there was a time I called to say I was on my way and ran for a kilometre, but the customer didn't answer the phone.
"The subway was about to stop running soon, and I kept calling but he didn't answer the phone.
"When he did, he cursed at me saying, 'If I don't answer the phone, you should have understood that I don't need your service anymore and you should have cancelled and gone away'.
"At that time, the subway had already stopped running, so I remember going to the convenience store to eat cup noodles while waiting for the late-night bus," he said.
