KUALA LUMPUR: Iconic singer Datuk Sheila Majid is gracing the big stage once again in March 2023.
Her comeback mega concert will take place at Dewan Merdeka in the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur at 8.30pm on March 18.
Titled Sheila Majid Big Band Live In Kuala Lumpur, it marks her first concert in six years and tickets go on sale at 11am on Dec 12.
The two-hour show is presented by Arombay and Mamee, organised by JioBuddy and Altus ProHouse with Level Up as production partner.
JioBuddy chief executive officer Sean Ng said that Sheila was a living legend in Malaysian music and many of her fans have been missing her especially during the two-year Movement Control Order (MCO) from 2020 to 2021.
"The time has come for a Sheila Majid grand concert and it's three months from now. We promise that it will be a blast and a nostalgic musical journey," he said at the concert's launch at Le Meridien Hotel in Petaling Jaya today.
"We expect fans from around the country as well as Singapore, Brunei and Indonesia to come in full force to the concert. She will share the stage with some of the country's best musicians."
There will be 23 musicians backing up Sheila and they comprise 13 horn players, 7 guitarists, keyboardists and drummers, and three backup singers.
Mac Chew is the music director and Jennifer Thomson is the concert director.
"There will also be a jazz orchestra of 10 members and a rhythm section. It will be a first for Sheila, in sharing the stage with them."
Ng said that ticket-holders will have a special ticket package with perfume sponsored by Arombay.
Those with the RM1,288 VVIP tickets will have a photo session with Sheila.
Sheila said: "We're going to have a great time ladies and gentlemen. The new concert is a way for me to reconnect with all of you after a long hiatus. I promise to make it an unforgettable two hours and a half with more than 20 songs."
Sheila's last studio album was Boneka in 2017. It came 13 years after the chart-topping album Cinta Kita in 2004.
In 2021, Sheila released a single Ketika Cinta Ingin Dimengerti and last year she sang Wira Hatiku the theme song for the pandemic film Juang.
