KUALA LUMPUR: Indonesian band Kerispatih and their former singer Sammy Simorangkir showed that, though separated, the two can still jam together.
The Moments Kerispatih with Sammy Simorangkir held at Zepp KL last night captivated some 2,000 fans with 20 songs, including the bands famous 'Mengenangmu', 'Bila Rasaku Ini Rasamu', 'Tapi Bukan Aku', 'Lihat Hatiku' and many more.
Current lead singer Fandy Santoso kicked off the night with six songs before Sammy entered the hall to the tunes of 'Mengenangmu', for a duet with Santoso.
Taking over the second half of the show, Sammy stopped for quick photos and brief interactions with the fans, before continuing the show with some of his famous hits such as 'Sedang Apa Dan Dimana' and his own rendition of 'Kaulah Segalanya'.
"Thank you for the support, it's a dream come true to be able to perform before you all tonight.
"Is there anyone out there that comes here with broken hearts? Looking to get your heart mended here?
"So let's all relax, and enjoy the night together," said the former Kerispatih lead vocalist in between songs.
Sammy's amazing vocal range, accompanied by Kerispatih's bandmates - Anton on the drums, Badai on keyboards, and Arief and Andika, who slayed the guitar and bass, held court as the hall erupted into song.
Both Kerispatih former and current singers then reunited for the last few songs. They also thanked the Yang di-Pertuan Agong's eldest princess Tengku Puteri Raja Tengku Puteri Iman Afzan Al-Sultan Abdullah for gracing the show.
They also recalled the times when Kerispatih won an award at the Anugerah Era back in 2017 where they encountered Malaysia's own King of Soul Anuar Zain, who gave them a copy of his album CD.
They then surprised the crowd by rendering their version of 'Lelaki Ini' in appreciation of the singer who was seated in the crowd.
The show then ended with Sammy and Fandy's duet of 'Sepanjang Usia', which gets everybody in the crowd singing and dancing along to the song's happy beats.
The sold-out show was organised by 4ward, Tiger Wong Entertainment, and MHT Live.
