#Showbiz: Comedian Jimmy Carr to hold maiden KL show in January

KUALA LUMPUR: British stand-up artiste Jimmy Carr will be staging his first comedy show in Malaysia at the Plenary Hall of the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on Jan 14.

The star of the UK's most streamed Netflix comedy special of 2021, Terribly Funny, is known for his deadpan delivery of controversial one-liners and tongue-in-cheek monologues.

Presented by LOL Asia and BOHM, the show will feature jokes on terrible things.

"But they're just jokes – they are not the terrible things. Jokes are little lies. Nothing more than wonderful, funny, joyful tricks, constructed from language.

"And there's no point to the show, save for to make the audience laugh. Having political correctness at a comedy show is like having health and safety at a rodeo.

"Now you've been warned, enjoy the laughs," he said in a recent statement.

Carr has been a comedian for over a decade having performed in over 2,500 shows for more than 2.5 million people during 10 sold-out tours.

He's won the British Comedy Award for Best Live Stand-Up Tour and been a host for many TV series, including Roast Battle on Comedy Central UK.

The funnyman kicked off his Terribly Funny tour in 2019 and his Terribly Funny 2.0 show has since travelled across the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Malaysia and India will be his first-time comic pit-stops for 2024.

Pre-Sale tickets go on sale on Oct 12 at 10am, while general tickets will be available on Oct 13 at 10am.
