PETALING JAYA: As Malaysians bid farewell to 2023, Pinkfish Countdown 2024 ushered in the new year with an electrifying electronic dance music (EDM) spectacle that captivated some 12,000 music enthusiasts. 

Held at Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach yesterday, the carefully curated artiste lineup, culminating in a breathtaking countdown, created an unforgettable night of music and celebration.

World-renowned American-Indian musician, songwriter, DJ, producer, and singer, KSHMR, known for chart-topping hits like Secrets and Power, led the sonic extravaganza, drawing inspiration from his Indian heritage and infusing sounds enriched with influences from Southeast Asia.

Fellow international EDM heavyweights such as Coone, Jeffrey Sutorious, and Andrew Rayel graced the stage, with Rayel delivering an exclusive sunset performance that ignited the night with high energy as the sun dipped below the horizon.

Meanwhile, celebrating the richness of Malaysia's own talent pool, homegrown electropop fan-favorites including Bate, Mister Ariffin & Haikal Ahmad, Ralph's and Sentralize showcased their remarkable spinning skills.

In addition to the captivating music performances, Pinkfish Countdown 2024 transformed into a multisensory experience, incorporating culinary delights, games and activities.

Festival-goers were treated to a tantalising culinary journey, elevating the overall experience and satisfying their taste buds.

Festival-goer Muhammad Hafiy Isyraf, 25, said Pinkfish Countdown 2024 represented a fresh new playground for die-hard music enthusiasts to embrace creativity, music, and community while ushering in the new year.

"Even with the rain, the atmosphere at Pinkfish Countdown was unbelievable. The music, the lights, and the energy from the crowd made it an unforgettable experience for me," he told the New Straits Times.
