#SHOWBIZ: RTM 'relieves' Ustaz Don Daniyal of hosting duties on 'Salam Baitullah'

KUALA LUMPUR: Celebrity preacher Ustaz Don Daniyal Don Biyajid has been "relieved" of hosting duties on Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) religious-themed programme Salam Baitullah, following his controversial views on Prophet Muhammad.

RTM director-general Datuk Suhaimi Sulaiman said on X today that he had instructed his team to "relieve" Don Daniyal of hosting duties in Salam Baitullah.

"I have asked my team to take him off the programme Salam Baitullah. Don't ask me about what I think or feel. Numbed," said Suhaimi.

Don Daniyal has been criticised by netizens for "slandering" the Prophet. The preacher allegedly said that the Prophet proposed to a woman named Ummu Hani thrice and that she was his first love.

Don Daniyal was criticised by leading religious scholars, but stood by his "claims".

Yesterday, the Federal Territories Mufti's Office issued a statement which said that Don Daniyal's claims about the Prophet were not true.

The Mufti's Office urged the public not to make or share statements about the Prophet that were not supported by solid proof.

Suhaimi had earlier said that Don Daniyal was supposed to be a host and moderator in the talk show, not an analyst.

Suhaimi also said that the show's production team had closely monitored what was said and discussed, to prevent controversial statements from being made.

Salam Baitullah has been screened on RTM since June 2 and will end is seasonal run on June 17.
