Warner Music Malaysia (WMM) has been commissioned to create the official anthem for Harimau Malaya, in collaboration with the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).
The aim is to deliver a timeless piece that will be chanted by football fans for generations.
WMM managing director Dinesh Ratnam expressed the significance of this partnership as a demonstration of their dedication to both sports and the local music industry, while also boosting national pride and sportsmanship.
"Our goal is to create an anthem that transcends generations, uniting Malaysian fans of all ages in support of our national team.
"More than just a song, we hope it becomes a symbol of hope, inspiration and unity across the country.
"It will represent all our national football teams," Dinesh said at the FAM-WMM signing ceremony at Nero Space, Petaling Jaya Performing Arts Centre, recently.
Dinesh acknowledged the weight of this responsibility, given its impact on all Malaysians, but assured that WMM is fully committed to producing a high-quality piece, covering all aspects, from the song to its accompanying music video.
"We are carefully considering the singer, song concept and music video production.
"We plan to involve Harimau Malaya supporters and Malaysians in the video, making it a truly national project.
"We aim to launch the anthem at the AFC Cup next year," he added.
FAM deputy president Datuk Yusoff Mahadi expressed his excitement about the collaboration, emphasising music's power in enhancing the football experience.
"This partnership bridges generations and will appeal to Malaysians from diverse backgrounds.
"I am confident that this anthem will ignite the spirit of Harimau Malaya players as they compete on the international stage," Yusoff said.
He expressed hope that the collaboration between football and music would create an unforgettable experience for Harimau Malaya fans.
Also present at the event were FAM secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman and WMM's A&R director Raqeem Brian.
