Magnum ice-cream celebrates Asian-inspired flavour

POPULAR singer-actress Daiyan Trisha Mohd Nasaruddin, 30, has always been a fan of Magnum ice-cream.

She describes the popular brand as "adventurous in flavour" and has welcomed its latest family addition, the Magnum Matcha Crumble.

"It's so good that Magnum has finally got a green tea special, and its East-West fusion makes it so tantalising," said Daiyan who has just come up with Tulisan, her first book of poems compiled over the last five years.

The Sumpahan Jerunei and Busker star from Kajang was one of three celebrities who unveiled the new Magnum ice-cream flavour at Sentul Depot, Jalan Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur on Sept 11.

The others were actor Ben Amir of Spanar Jaya X and social media personality Qiu Wen.

Ben said: "Matcha Crumble is a culinary masterpiece that transcends borders and delights the senses. This blend of East and West pairs Japanese green tea with Magnum's signature Belgian chocolate coat."

Qiu said: "It is a delicious new flavour that stays true to Magnum's tagline True To Pleasure."

FUSION OF TEXTURES

Unilever Ice Cream Malaysia business lead Jean Nichapat Valaiphatchra said that the Magnum Matcha Crumble was a velvety smooth Matcha ice cream, encased in the iconic Magnum "cracking" Belgian chocolate and embedded with crunchy shortbread crumble pieces.

"This remarkable combination offers a symphony of textures and flavours that truly elevate the ice cream experience," she said.

"At Magnum, we have always pushed the boundaries of indulgence. We have travelled the world to source the finest ingredients, and this time, we have drawn inspiration from the vibrant and captivating culture of the East."

Unilever Ice Cream Malaysia brand marketing and Magnum lead Alan Tsing said: "We are not just delivering a new ice-cream, we are delivering a new experience.

"The Matcha Crumble is a testament to our commitment to quality, innovation, and the pursuit of true pleasure."

The Magnum Matcha Crumble marked the brand's triumphant return to on-ground events after two years of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The new flavour's launch saw the event space transformed into a "Magnum Matcha world" where guests were immersed in a captivating, Japanese-themed experience.

They were served with freshly-prepared Matcha and sushi finger food and had the chance to sample an exclusive Magnum X Chateau Dionne chef creation.

The guests who included the master of ceremonies, singer, radio announcer and actress Hunny Madu, learnt the intricate techniques of whisking premium Matcha. They also learnt to craft their own Japanese fans, a personalised masterpiece to take home as a cherished

memento of the occasion.

The guests also partook in a beloved Japanese ritual, penning down their hopes and dreams for the coming year and hanging them up on a wishing tree. - dchua@nst.com.my.
