IPOH: A 47-year-old man died while his female companion was seriously injured in an accident here today.
In the 10.45am incident at Km275 of the North South Expressway here, Voon Chong Ying died on the spot.
The impact of the crash caused the victim's Toyota Vios to be stuck in between the railings of the expressway.
Ipoh Fire and Rescue Department chief P. Samasuvan said both victims were thrown off from their seats.
He added that the woman fractured a leg.
Initial investigations showed the driver had lost control of the vehicle before hitting the railing.
"We arrived at the scene at 10.56am," he said, adding that 13 firemen from Ipoh and Simpang Pulai stations were involved in the operation.
