Teenager hospitalised after being beaten up by seniors

SUNGAI PETANI: A 14-year-old boy sustained serious head and body injuries after he was beaten up by Form 3 students at his school, here, on Sunday.

The From 2 student, said to suffer internal bleeding to the head, has been warded at the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital intensive care unit in Alor Star.

Kuala Muda police chief Assistant Commissioner Md Zukir Md Isa said the incident occurred during the school's morning session at the victim’s classroom.

“One of the boys was unhappy with the victim for pulling his sibling’s hand, who is the victim’s classmate, into the classroom.

Zukir said four boys, aged 15, later went to see the victim and beat him up before hitting the boy’s head to the wall.

He said the victim was initially sent to the Sultan Abdul Halim Hospital for treatment and was later referred to the Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Star after an x-ray showed signs of internal bleeding in his head.

"The four boys have been detained for questioning.

"Police are investigating the case under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

Meanwhile, the Kedah Education Department the case has been referred to the police after the teenager's father reported the matter to the police.
