Enter the dragon: Yong Peng's RM8mil dragon tunnel set to draw visitors

YONG PENG: The Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar today launched the 107m long man-made dragon tunnel located at the Che An Khor Moral Uplifting Association grounds.

The construction of the dragon replica, which took about a year and a half to be completed, was made possible at a cost of RM8 million.

State Tourism, Trade and Consumerism Committee chairman Datuk Tee Siew Kiong said he believed the dragon tunnel would draw thousands of local and foreign visitors thus boosting the tourism industry in the state.

"With the opening of this dragon tunnel, it will surely draw more people coming to the district and in turn boost the local business and state economy," he said.

Some 5,000 people thronged the launch ceremony today to witness and walk inside the gigantic dragon tunnel.

Feng Ai Leen, 16, from Batu Pahat was excited by the new attraction and described walking through the tunnel as an experience akin to being "swallowed" by a dragon.

The dragon tunnel is located at Che An Khor Moral Uplifting Association, Green Garden, Lot HS 2677, Jalan Kota Impian 1, Yong Peng.
