Teen girl goes missing after saying she's on her way to visit her mother

KUALA LUMPUR: A 13-year-old girl has been reported missing after she failed to return to her Bandar Baru Bangi home today.

Aliaa Syafiqah Nazar was last seen at her school in Sungai Tangkas early this morning.

Her father, Juahari Nazar Nazari, said Aliaa's sister had gone to the school to look for her when they realised that she wasn't at home at 10am today.

Her school had no classes due to the ongoing SPM examinations.

"Closed-circuit television footage showed Aliaa entering the school at 5.20am.

"Minutes later, she was seen leaving the school in an orange scarf, shirt and jeans," he said.

A bag, believed to be of Aliaa's, was found at the school.

Attempts by family members to contact the girl proved futile as her mobile phone was switched off.

The family believe that Aliaa had gone to search for her mother. Juahari said Aliaa had earlier called his ex-wife and said she wanted meet her.

At press time, Aliaa has failed to return home and has also not turned up at her mother's residence.

Members of the public who have information on Aliaa's whereabouts can contact Juahari at 018-6624450.
