SHAH ALAM: Police are seeking the cooperation of establishments near the Pinggiran USJ police station in Taman Perindustrian UEP, Subang Jaya, to come forward if they have closed circuit television cameras (CCTV) installed at their premises.
Selangor police chief Datuk Mazlan Mansor said any CCTV recording furnished to investigators could shed light into the early morning murder of 29-year-old Lance Corporal Valentino Mesa, who was found with slash and gunshot wounds at the station about 3.30am yesterday.
Valentino's body was found at the station's front desk counter by his colleagues who had just returned from routine patrols.
"We will investigate CCTV recordings provided to us. Investigations into the case are on-going. Please give us space to investigate this case," Mazlan told the New Straits Times today.
Mazlan also denied that Valentino's Walther P99 service pistol, believed to have been taken by his attacker, had been found.
Some 16 hours after the attack, a 34-year-old suspect was arrested as he was about to board a flight to Sibu at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport at 7.30pm.
The suspect, a Sarawakian, was arrested by a team of policemen, who handed him over to investigators from the Subang Jaya police headquarters' serious crimes division.
The NST was made to understand that Valentino, who had served the force for 7 years, was brutally attacked with a sharp weapon before he was shot execution style in the back at close range.
Initial checks by the police at the scene revealed Valentino was slashed once on his forehead and sustained at least five more at the back of his head.
It is believed that Valentino was shot in the back when he was lying face down on the floor after being slashed.
His remains were sent to the Serdang Hospital for post-mortem.
