Killer who stabbed Kg Hijrah housewife ran off with CCTV recording device, cops told

KUANTAN: The attacker who stabbed a housewife to death on Friday had made-off with valuables including the closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) recording device from the victim's house at Kampung Hijrah in Penor here.

Police, who were scouring the single-storey house for evidence, have been informed by the victim's family that the device, which was kept in one of the rooms, was among the missing items.

District police chief Assistant Commissioner Abdul Aziz Salleh said the wooden house has six CCTV cameras intalled and would have recorded the entire incident.

"The suspect had made-off with the device when escaping. Police are still looking for clues to help our investigation including other missing valuables," he said today.

In the incident, housewife Norhasilah Ismail, 34, was found dead with two stab wounds to her stomach and chest.

Her attacker had broken into the house about 8am and when she struggled to free herself, he used a sharp object to stab her, twice.

Before leaving, the suspect locked her youngest son Mohd Aqil Nasrul in the bedroom and he was only freed after his father Nasrul Mansor, 32, and elder brother Mohd Abid, 8, returned home about 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, Nasrul, who was met at his mother's house at Kampung Peramu said he noticed that a gold chain and ring along with a branded watch were missing from the house.

The fishmonger, still shaken by the incident, said the CCTV device was a key evidence to track down the suspect but sadly the culprit had stole it.

"The CCTV cameras around the house would have recorded everything...

"I am praying hard that police will find the culprit and bring the person to justice," he said, adding the family had only moved into the Kampung Hijrah home about nine months ago.
