KUCHING: Police conducted 18 raids on activities involving online gambling around Sarawak during Ops Dadu Khas last month.
Kuching District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Ahsmon Bajah said, among the offenses committed were playing online gambling in public places and being an online gambling top-up agent.
He said police also raided a two-storey bungalow on Jalan Lapangan Terbang operating as an Online Gambling Centre.
"Investigations found the premises had been operating for about six months based on records and transactions.
"The syndicate raked in RM3,500 daily and could rake in RM105,000 a month," he said in a statement today.
He said 20 locals comprising 19 men and a woman as well as 13 foreigners comprising 13 men and two women, were arrested during the raids.
"Also seized were various equipment including six units of computer monitors, six units of central processing units (CPU), 10 mobile phones, modems and other equipment used in conducting online gambling activities.
"Investigation papers have been opened under Section 4 (1) (g), Section 7 (2) and Section 4 (1) (c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953," he said.
