SHAH ALAM: A man stabbed his colleague to death for drinking his orange juice just as they were breaking fast at the workers' hostel of a factory in Section 36 near here yesterday.
Shah Alam district police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the police received a report about the incident at 7.20pm.
Iqbal said the incident was believed to have occurred after the 51-year-old male suspect became angry when the victim drank the suspect's orange juice while breaking fast.
Investigations revealed that the victim was a 49-year-old Bangladeshi national working as a general labourer.
The victim and the suspect, a Pakistani national, have been living together in a container converted into a factory hostel.
"The incident stemmed from the suspect's anger when the victim drank his orange juice during iftar, prompting the suspect to stab the victim multiple times with a knife taken from the kitchen," he said in a statement today.
The suspect was arrested at 7.30pm at the scene of the incident. The police also seized a knife believed to have been used by the suspect to stab the victim.
Ongoing investigations are being carried out under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or imprisonment for a term not less than 30 years but not exceeding 40 years, and if the death penalty is not imposed, shall also be liable to caning not less than 12 times.
