KOTA BARU: Terengganu police today confirmed that they have received a report from the woman who allegedly stabbed a man to death in Manek Urai, Kuala Krai, recently.
When contacted by the New Straits Times, Terengganu police chief Datuk Mazli Mazlan said the report was lodged on March 28 in Setiu, Terengganu.
In the report, he said the 28-year-old woman claimed that she was kidnapped by the man and later brought to Kelantan.
"She claimed that she managed to escape from the man's custody.
"She told police that a scuffle broke out between them in Manek Urai," he said.
Mazli said the state police handed over the woman to their Kelantan counterpart on April 1.
It is learnt that the woman, who is from Terengganu, was arrested by police after she lodged the report.
She tested positive for drugs and was charged under Section 1 of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 but was released on bail later.
It was reported that a 45-year-old man died after he was stabbed three times in the abdomen after he allegedly tried to force a woman to have sex with him in Manek Urai.
Kelantan police chief Datuk Muhammad Zaki Harun had said police arrested a woman, 28, to assist investigations into the case.
He said several stab wounds were found on the man's stomach.
No traces of blood were found near the scene where the body was discovered.
He added initial checks found that the incident happened on March 28 after the victim kidnapped his girlfriend from Sungai Tong, near Setiu, Terengganu, and brought her to several places in Kuala Krai.
"She stabbed him when he allegedly forced her to have sex with him. The man ran off after the woman escaped from him." Zaki said.
He said the woman had been remanded for seven days, beginning yesterday, to assist investigations into the case.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
