KINABATANGAN: Members of the public recovered the body of a 51-year-old man two days after the boat he was on was swept away by strong currents in the Ulu Segama river here.
The 51-year-old man was found about 500m from AAP Plantation farm around 11pm last night.
He was one of three steel cable installers who were tasked to install steel cables in the river on Tuesday.
The Fire and Rescue Department said a team went to location at 7.30am today to help lift out the victim and subsequently handed his remains to the police for further action.
On Tuesday, the department was alerted to an incident where three people were on a boat installing steel cables, but due to the strong river current, their boat was swept away.
Two victims managed to save themselves, while one victim was reported missing.
The department's personnel had carried out a search and rescue operation at the spot, which is 60 km from the station. The team used surface water rescue techniques for two days but to no avail.
