Police investigating how baby suffered broken arm, head injury

CHUKAI: A 5-month-old baby suffered a broken left arm and bleeding in the head while under the care of her babysitter in Paya Berenjut near here yesterday.

Kemaman police chief Superintendent Hanyan Ramlan said the baby was sent by her mother to the babysitter's house in the morning before she went to work.

He said around 11am, the 29-year-old babysitter contacted the victim's mother and claimed that the baby was having a fever.

"The victim's mother rushed to the babysitter's house and found her baby weak before rushing her to the nearby hospital.

"As a result of the medical examination, it was found that the victim had a broken left arm and was bleeding in the head," he said.

Hanyan said the baby is now reported to be in stable condition and was undergoing treatment at a hospital.

"The police received a report about the incident around 1.30pm and immediately initiated investigations.

"We will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the cause of the incident, including any negligence," he said.

He added that the police would take statements from the babysitter for further investigations.
