KUALA LUMPUR: A transparent and fair investigation will be conducted into the murder of Nur Farah Kartini Abdullah.
Inspector General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said they would not protect the policeman if he was found guilty.
"Our stand is clear — your rank or stature does not matter.
"Police personnel who commit crimes will face justice for what they have done. Do not hope for our protection," he said when contacted on Tuesday.
He reminded his personnel that they took an oath to serve the public and enforce the law.
"Remember this oath and know that your conduct represents the entire police force.
"We will not allow bad apples to tarnish the image of the police," he said.
Razarudin said this following the arrest of a lance corporal in connection with Nur Farah Kartini's murder.
The 26-year-old suspect, who has been remanded for seven days to facilitate investigations, was attached to the Slim River police station for the last five years.
Nur Farah Kartini was reported missing on July 12.
The victim, who worked at a car rental company, helped deliver a rental car to a customer at a residential area in Tanjung Malim about 8am on July 10.
She was last seen leaving in a red-coloured car after completing the delivery.
Her body was found near Felda Gedangsa in Hulu Selangor about 6pm on Monday.
