KUALA LUMPUR: The police believe they have solved five cases of railway signal cable theft after arresting four members of the Amin Remis Gang around Layang-Layang at 1am, on Aug 2.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said all the suspects, who were local males in their 30s to 40s, tested positive for methamphetamine.
He said the police also confiscated various items, including a Proton Persona and motorcycle reported missing in Kulai, with a total value of RM15,000.
"The suspects were arrested in four different locations in Layang-Layang.
"Three of them have a record of criminal and narcotics cases.
"Police also confiscated items including eight coils of cable that had been cut, a saw blade and a knife.
"After questioning all the suspects, police believe they have solved five cases of signal cable theft in this district involving RM20,000 in losses."
He said this in a press conference at the Kluang district police headquarters, today.
The case was investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code, and if found guilty, the suspects could be punished with imprisonment of up to two years, or a fine, or both.
