BATU PAHAT: The family members of the school bus driver who uploaded a video of a primary school student and referred to her as his "crush" turned up at the Sessions Court here to show their support for him.
"Be patient, we are there for you," said a family member, as the man was once again brought before the court for using the TikTok application to post offensive comments in his video this month.
The words were heard as the man, also known as 'Abang Bas,' was being escorted into a police car after today's proceedings, tears streaming down his face.
Earlier, the 24-year-old man pleaded not guilty after the charges were read before Judge Osman Affendi Mohd Shalleh.
He faces three charges, including two in the Muar Sessions Court, and his bail amount is set at RM40,000.
Previously, a video circulated on TikTok showing a man referring to a bus passenger, believed to be a primary school student, as his 'crush' and 'favourite'.
The post was met with public outrage, with many deeming it inappropriate and potentially constituting sexual harassment against a child.
Recording photos or videos of children without parental consent violates rights and privacy under the Child Act 2001.
Women, Family, and Community Developmen Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri then instructed officials from the Children Development Department (JPKK) to lodge a police report on the viral social media post.
