KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested a foreign man who attacked his housemates with a knife and a piece of wood following an argument at their home in Pandan Indah.
Ampang Jaya district deputy police chief superintendent Nazruel Ekram Abu Saare said the victims, also foreigners, were injured in the incident and are being treated at Hospital Ampang.
Nazruel said the incident happened yesterday afternoon when the 31-year-old suspect was cutting fruits in the hall of the house.
He then got into an argument with his housemates, aged 18 and 28, and this led to a scuffle.
One housemate was injured, while another foreigner who came to the house at the time, was also injured.
The suspect was arrested an hour later at the house. He later tested negative for drugs.
A knife, two pieces of wood and two pieces of clothing were seized.
"Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect was frequently scolded (by his housemates) and that there were ongoing quarrels about family issues
The suspect is being remanded until Sept 4. The case is being probed under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder which carries a jail term of up to 20 years.
