Fed up with loud motorcycle revving, man sparks uproar at workshop

BENTONG: Exhausted by the loud noise of motorcycle revving, a man stormed into a workshop here to confront a mechanic before attacking him with a knife.

However, bystanders and other workers at the workshop in Karak intervened before the 52-year-old man could harm the mechanic, 20.

The mechanic later lodged a police report about the Nov 18 incident, which was captured on video. A clip of the altercation has since gone viral.

District police chief Superintendent Zaiham Mohd Kahar said the suspect was arrested at 12.45 am on Nov 19, and a knife was seized from him.

"Investigations revealed the incident stemmed from the suspect's dissatisfaction with the loud revving noise from the victim's motorcycle," he said in a statement.

The suspect has no prior criminal record and tested negative for drugs.

The case is being investigated under Sections 506 and 323 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation and intentionally causing hurt.
