KUALA LUMPUR: Police have completed the probe into 34 people suspected to have been involved in partner-swapping sexual activities, or "swinging", which had been promoted online.
City police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the investigation papers were submitted to the deputy public prosecutor's office on Thursday.
"For now, we are waiting for a decision from the DPP for further action. However, further actions are being conducted to trace the syndicate which has been promoting this immoral activity," he said when contacted.
Rusdi said police had arrested 18 men and 16 women who were believed to have been involved in swinging activities.
"Also detained were two men who were believed to have been the leaders of the group. We are also working closely with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to shut down the websites and applications involved," he said.
It was reported on Friday that the 36 people were arrested in a joint raid by police and the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) raid at a condominium in Mont Kiara.
They were believed to have been part of a 147,000-member online community called "Swing That Fun" whose members were mostly Malaysian.
Federal Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (intelligence/operations) Deputy Commissioner Fadil Marsus had said the raid had followed an intelligence-gathering operation which began in June.
Among those detained were five foreigners from France, China, Nigeria, the Czech Republic and the Philippines.
