KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating attempts to instil elements of militant jihad ideology in children rescued from the Global Ikhwan Services and Business Holdings (GISB) charity homes.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the investigation is now focused on allegations that militant videos were shown to the children.
"Although I have not addressed the issue of militant video screenings during this case or at the press conference, we are indeed directing our investigation toward that," he said.
Earlier, Selangor Executive Council for Islamic Affairs member Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah said that the children were exposed to militant ideology through videos they watched in their free time.
He noted that this information was obtained from police.
"They are intelligent and capable of reading, spelling, and counting, but the teachings they received do not represent the correct concept of jihad," he said.
"We are concerned that instilling this incorrect understanding of militant jihad at such a young age could pose a future threat to society," he added during the 21st Hafiz College Convocation ceremony.
