SERI ALAM: Police arrested a 37-year-old man and seized items believed to be stolen, less than three hours after he broke into an elderly woman's house in Taman Kota Masai, in Pasir Gudang here, yesterday.
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Sohaimi Ishak said the suspect who was armed with a knife broke into the 79-year-old woman's house at 12.57am.
He held the knife to her neck and demanded the woman, who was staying alone at the house, to surrender her valuables.
The suspect was arrested at a house in Taman Kota Masai at 4.30am, the same day.
Mohd Sohaimi added that preliminary investigations showed the suspect has a history of 15 criminal offences and tested positive for methamphetamine.
Sohaimi said police also recovered valuables, worth about RM2,000, which included a mobile phone and tablet following the arrest of the suspect.
Police also seized a knife, and a back-pack believed used in the robbery. The victim was unharmed during the incident.
The suspect has been remanded until Nov 18 to assist police investigation into the case.
