30-year-old man arrested with RM6,000 worth of synthetic drugs

KUALA LUMPUR: Police on patrol along Jalan Dewan Bahasa here arrested a 30-year-old man with over RM6,000 worth of synthetic drugs.

Dang Wangi police chief Assistant Commissioner Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman said the suspect was arrested after a team from the district's police patrol car unit stopped a Perodua Bezza at around 5am on Monday.

"We searched the car and its driver, finding 650 grams of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) and 8.2 grams of ketamine, worth RM6,140," he said.

"Further investigations revealed that the suspect was directly involved in distributing drugs to entertainment outlets within the Klang Valley area," he added.

He said a urine test revealed that the suspect tested positive for methamphetamines, amphetamines, ketamine, and benzo.

"The suspect has no prior record and is believed to have been involved in drug distribution activities since the middle of this year.

"We also seized the Perodua Bezza and a mobile phone believed to be used to distribute drugs to customers," he said, adding that the suspect has been remanded for seven days.

In an unrelated case, Sulizmie said a team of police from the Dang Wangi Narcotic Crime Investigation Department arrested a 48-year-old man with 26.1grams of heroin worth RM652 along Jalan Tun Tan Siew Sin at around 11.50pm on Nov 26.

"Further checks showed the suspect has been abusing drugs while also operating a small-scale drug distribution operation at Jalan Petaling," he said adding that the suspect also tested positive for morphine.

He said the suspect also has 20 prior records for crime and drug offences.

"He has been remanded for seven days," he said.
