KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested eight suspects in connection with an office break-in in Kampung Baru Ampang, Selangor.

Ampang Jaya police chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said the suspects, comprising seven men and one Malaysian woman, were aged between 17 and 41.

"A team from the Ampang Jaya Criminal Investigation Division conducted several raids in the Klang Valley between Dec 17 and Dec 31, leading to the arrests," he said in a statement today.

"The suspects' modus operandi involved targeting premises and vehicles parked outside residential areas during the early hours of the morning.

"As part of the investigation, police seized various items, including mobile phones, laptops, helmets, machinery, foreign currency and a motorcycle."

Investigations revealed that the suspects had been active for about three months and were linked to four office break-ins, thefts and vehicle thefts across the Klang Valley.

"Seven suspects have prior records, ranging from two to 24 offences related to criminal and drug activities, including outstanding warrants, while one has no prior record."

Five of the suspects were released after investigations, while the remaining three have been remanded since yesterday.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, with offenders facing up to 14 years in prison, along with a fine or whipping.
