PENAMPANG: Two foreign women were arrested during a raid at a condominium in Penampang, where police seized drugs worth an estimated RM3,200.
The operation, conducted by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division of the Penampang District Police Headquarters (IPD) at 10.30pm on Friday, uncovered a variety of illicit substances.
District police chief Superintendent Sammy Newton said the drugs seized included five black plastic packets containing 166.77g of ecstasy powder, one transparent packet with 3.07g of ecstasy pills, and another transparent packet holding 1.46g of ketamine.
"Both suspects, in their 20s, tested positive for ketamine during initial urine screenings," he said in a statement.
He said the suspects were now under remand as investigations proceeded under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
This section imposes either the death penalty or life imprisonment, with a minimum of 12 strokes of the cane if life imprisonment is sentenced.
The case is also being investigated under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Sammy urged the public to avoid drug abuse and assist law enforcement by reporting any drug-related activities.
