SHAH ALAM: State police have seized drugs worth RM1.08 million in raids across Klang Utara, Shah Alam and Ampang Jaya on Tuesday and Wednesday.
State police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said five individuals, including three family members aged 22 to 47, were arrested during the operations.
In the first case, Hussein said, an employee of a construction materials supply company rented a house to operate as a mini drug lab.
"The 30-year-old suspect was arrested at 6.40pm on Wednesday. Police found a small amount of MDMA (ecstasy) and ketamine at a house in Klang after being led there by the suspect," he said at a press conference today.
"The suspect also directed police to his rented house in Setia Alam, which was used as a mini lab, where 5.3kg of ecstasy pills, 2.24 liters of liquid methamphetamine, 2.1kg of methamphetamine, 1.9kg of heroin and equipment for processing ecstasy were seized.
"The drugs, valued at RM1.06 million, were believed to be intended for the Klang Valley market. Police also confiscated a Proton X70 vehicle."
He said investigations revealed the suspect had been operating the drug lab for six to eight months.
In the second case, Hussein said, a man, his wife, and their daughter were arrested with 316g of cannabis.
The family, travelling in a Proton Saga, was detained around Shah Alam at 9.30pm on Wednesday.
"Following their arrest, police detained another Malaysian man at a house in Ampang Jaya and seized 6.4kg of cannabis.
"The first suspect has four prior criminal records, while the second suspect has one.
"Initial urine tests showed that only the fourth suspect tested positive for THC.
"The drugs seized in this case are valued at RM20,922 and are believed to have been intended for the Klang Valley market."
All suspects have been remanded for seven days. The cases are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
