KUALA LANGAT: A four-month-old baby died at an unlicensed nursery in Bandar Saujana Putra last week.
District police chief Superintendent Akmalrizal Radzi said they received a distress call at around 3.29pm from a doctor at a clinic in the area on Jan 3.
"The doctor claimed to have received a baby at the clinic who was pale and had blue lips and feet, was not breathing and did not have a pulse.
"The baby was brought in by one of the nursery babysitters," he said in a statement today.
He said the doctor immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and administered oxygen while waiting for an ambulance.
"The baby was then taken to the Cyberjaya Hospital at around 4.35pm and CPR was administered for another 30 minutes.
"The baby did not respond and doctors pronounced the baby dead at around 5.05pm," he said.
Akmalrizal said investigations revealed the nursery was not licensed.
"They have applied for license but did not have approval yet.
"We have opened investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001," he said, adding that statements have been recorded from the premise operator and its staff.
Akmalrizal urged the public to refrain from speculation which could disturb further investigations.
Earlier, a woman claimed on X that her child died due to negligence at the nursery where she had sent her baby.
The woman also claimed that her son had been left alone in the room and was left unattended.
The nursery is also said to have only two babysitters who looked after 25 babies.
"I sent him healthy and alive. The last time I changed his diapers was when he was alive before I sent him to nursery at 9am.
"8 hours later, I had to change his diapers while he was dead. I will not forgive them. I pray to God to curse all those involved," she said in the post.
