KUALA LUMPUR: A bus driver and a passenger were killed when the express bus they were in went out of control and plunged into a drain at KM422 of the North-South expressway.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Mohd Sani Harul said the department received an emergency call on the incident at 4.51am.
Rescue teams from Rawang and Kuala Kubu Baru fire stations were deployed to the scene.
"Two victims, a 44-year-old man and a 44-year-old Indonesian woman were killed.
"23 other victims including the second driver escaped unhurt" he said, adding the remains of the two deceased were handed over to the police.
A police spokesman said a woman who sustained severe injuries in the incident had been sent to Sungai Buloh hospital.
The bus was enroute to Johor Baru from Kangar, when the accident occurred.
Passengers who were uninjured were put on a replacement bus and continued their journey to Johor Baru.
