Missing former cop reunited with family

KOTA KINABALU: The family of Andrew Wong Hin Kok can breathe a sigh of relief after the 76-year-old man who went missing was found in less than 24 hours.

His 46-year-old daughter initially made the police report last night when her father, a retired policeman, went gone missing after dropping her mother at the Luyang clinic here at 10.35am.

The senior citizen who is believed to suffer from memory loss, initially told his wife that he wanted to find a parking space but was nowhere to be found when the wife completed her treatment at 2.30pm.

However, a villager at Kg Sugud, Jalan Papar Lama reported seeing the missing man’s Proton Wira this morning at 10.05am while he was on his way to his orchard.

“He found the car had broken down and a man was lying on the grass nearby, who was in healthy condition.

“The district police came to pick him up after we receive the call at 1.45pm … Early interview with the missing man found that he does have problems with remembering things.

“We have advised the family to take him for examination at the psychiatric hospital, Hospital Mesra at Bukit Padang,” said district police chief Assistant Commissioner M. Chandra.

The district police also treated Wong to food and drinks as well as a memento for his birthday tomorrow, where he will turn 77.
