Motorcyclist killed, pillion rider injured in emergency lane crash on NSE

ALOR GAJAH: A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider seriously injured when the motorcycle they were on rammed into a parked car at KM218 on the North-South Expressway (NSE) here.

The incident happened at 12.15pm when a Perodua Axia, driven by 24-year-old man, pulled over at the emergency lane to check his car.

An oncoming Yamaha 135LC rode by the victim, Mohamad Fitri Soknan, 20 and his pillion rider Nursafira Mohd Nasir, 18 crashed into the car's rear.

The impact caused Mohamad Fitri, a factory worker, to suffer fatal head injuries while Nursafira broke her left leg and hand. She was rushed to the Alor Gajah Hospital.

Melaka Traffic Enforcement and Investigation Department chief Superintendent Mohd Sham Abdullah said the case would be investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless and dangerous driving.
