Cops release 84-year-old man in Klang molest case

KLANG: The 84-year-old man, arrested by police on Nov 27 for allegedly molesting his three granddaughters is currently out on bail.

Klang Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Mazelan Paijan said the man was released on the same day of his arrest.

“A team of investigators took down the man’s statement and he was freed on bail several hours later.

“Investigations into this case is still on-going. We are in the midst of recording statements from the victims,” Mazelan told the New Straits Times today.

The case has been classified under Section 14 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for physical sexual assault on a child.

Meanwhile, Mazelan said the 10-year-old girl who was sent to Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital for a health check-up has since returned home to her family.

The matter came to light after she told her stepmother that the paternal grandfather had been touching her private parts since she was 6 on Nov 26.

The grandfather would go over to their house frequently to stay since he lives alone in Kampung Delek, Klang.

Police said she also claimed that her two elder sisters, aged 16 and 15, were also molested by the grandfather.

The grandfather, however, had denied it.

A police report was subsequently lodged by the stepmother.
