KUALA LUMPUR: Media Prima Bhd (Media Prima) saw a huge increase in numbers, in the leading integrated lg media group’s coverage of the14th Malaysia General Election (GE-14).
Media Prima Digital Chief Executive Officer Rafiq Razali said according to Google Analytics, the Media Prima news portals including SAYS, MyUndi, Harian Metro (HM), Berita Harian (BH) and New Straits Times (NST) recorded more than 25.6 million unique visitors and 296 million page views.
Out of this figure 10 per cent of the total number of unique visitors came from outside Malaysia during the period of between April 6 and May 13.
"MyUndi online news platform and the GE14 mobile app from Media Prima Labs recorded 2.1 million unique visitors with 13.3 million page views between May 9 and May 10.
"MyUndi is Google's top search for 'Vote' keyword search results during the election period.
"Media Prima's video coverage GE14 recorded 22.3 million views on Facebook and Youtube platforms and via video streaming service, watch," he said in a statement here.
According to him, the number of visitors and spectators during the election period was much higher than the monthly data.
"This achievement is unlikely to be done without the skills and dedication of Media Prima staff and editorial team through the various online portals offered by the Group," he said.
He said Media Prima's high digital access throughout the GE-14 coverage was in line with Media Prima's mission to become the premier digital content and commerce company in Malaysia.
"Media Prima is now ranked third in Malaysia after Google and Facebook in terms of digital access volume and this has convinced us to achieve the target of increasing revenue from digital resources by 20 per cent by 2020.
"Advertisers can now get high digital access through our Media Prima audience - our new digital product to enhance the performance of digital advertising which enables them to improve their campaign performance through accurate audience targeting through various advertising formats via the Media Prima network," he said.
Meanwhile, the group's digital strategy would also prove beneficial to The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Bhd (NSTP) which is now focusing on digital publishing.
According to Google Analytics, the Harian Metro website recorded more than 8.6 million monthly unique monthly visitors for the first three months of this year, maintaining its position as the number one news portal in Malaysia, while the BH website was ranked second with a monthly average of 6.1 unique visitors million.
