8 shoplots destroyed in Rawang fire

RAWANG: A fire broke out near the Rawang bus station early this morning, destroying eight shoplots along Jalan Maxwell here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department deputy director (operations) Mohd Rizal Buang said two teams of firemen from Batu Arang and Selayang were dispatched after a distress call was received at 1.51am.

He said 90 per cent of the shops were destroyed.

Fortunately, he said, there were no casualties.

“Twenty-nine firemen, including two officers, were involved in putting out the flames. We also had help from police, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and the Tun Teja volunteer firemen squad,” he said, adding that the department was investigating the cause of the fire.
