NSTP bags 20 prizes at 2018 Kinabalu Shell Press Awards

KOTA KINABALU: The New Straits Times Press (M) Berhad (NSTP) group bagged nine main awards and 11 merit prizes at the 2018 Kinabalu Shell Press Awards (KSPA) here today.

New Straits Times (NST) journalists Avila Geraldine Samuel and Olivia Miwil won the main prize for the English News Reporting category.

Olivia also won the main English Sports Journalism Award, while Avila grabbed the merit prize for English Environmental Journalism Award.

Avila, Olivia and Kristy Inus also took home the merit prize under English Journalism Award for team effort.

In the English Journalism Award for News Stringers, NST contributor Nova Renata Pusai won the main award, while Brandon John of NST also grabbed the merit prize in the same category.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal was present to hand over the awards at the 26th KSPA. Also present were Shell Malaysia chairman Datuk Ian Lo and Sabah Shell Petroleum general manager Prithipal Singh.

Meanwhile, Mohd Izham Unnip Abdullah of Berita Harian (BH) won the main Bahasa Malaysia News Reporting category. He also won the merit prize for Bahasa Malaysia Sports Journalism category.

In the Culture and Entertainment Reporting Award, Poliana Ronnie Sidom of BH won the main prize in the Bahasa Malaysia category.

Junaidi Ladjana from Harian Metro (HM) won the main Bahasa Malaysia Journalism Award and a merit prize for the Environmental Journalism Award in Bahasa Malaysia category.

Norasikin Daineh of HM also grabbed the merit prize under the Bahasa Malaysia Environmental Journalism Award.

For the stringers award, Hazmin Syahman Abdul Rahman (HM) grabbed the main Journalism Award for News Stringer Award, while Mohd Nazlie Zainul of BH received merit prize under the same category in Bahasa Malaysia.

Meanwhile, NSTP photographer Malai Rosmah Tuah won the best Environmental Journalism Photography Award and a merit prize each for Best Picture Award and Best News Photography Award.

Under the Best Photograph for News Stringers category, NSTP photographer Ruslan Lusi was announced the winner, while Mohd Adam Arinin and Recqueal Raimi each won the merit prize.
