Largest Ramadan baazars to be held in Bukit Jalil and Shah Alam

PETALING JAYA: The largest Ramadan Baazars will be held in Bukit Jalil and Shah Alam as part of Karnival Jom Heboh (KJH) and Grand Bazaar Ramadan Raya 2019 (GBRR).

This follows the inking of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between TV3 and Build Up Resources Sdn Bhd (BUR) at Sri Pentas, here, today to organise KJH and GBRR.

The GBBR baazars will be held from May 4 to June 2 in Shah Alam and from May 16 to June 4 in Bukit Jalil.

They are expected to draw 500,000 visitors each and are set to be the largest (combined) festival market to be held in an open space in the country.

Representing TV3 at the MoU was Media Prima Television Networks chief executive officer Johan Ishak, while BUR was represented by its chairman Datuk Mohd Azizan Che Omar.

It was witnessed by Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

“The GBBR 2019 aims to enter The Malaysia Book of Records (MBR) as the largest bazaar,” he said.

“We are looking to be featured in the MBR for the sale of the longest lemang in history and the proceeds of the sale of this lengthy Raya delicacy will be channelled to TV3’s Tabung Bersamamu (for the less fortunate).

“Another highlight of the programme is the breaking of fast with orphans.”

Johan said the baazars would operate from 3pm to midnight on weekdays and 11am to 12 midnight on weekends and public holidays. He added that there would be 436 booths in Bukit Jalil and 134 booths in Shah Alam.

He said the bazaars would help small scale traders and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur to market their services and products to the public.

Johan said all brands and vendors were welcome to sell their products, including clothing, accessories, health and beauty products, electrical appliances, furniture, phone accessories, and food and beverages.

A KJH will be held at Bulatan Bazarena, Shah Alam, on April 27 and 28.

Redzuan urged more companies to follow in footsteps of TV3 and BUR to create platforms for entrepreneurs to sell their products. He also asked them to organise such programmes for budding entrepreneurs in rural areas.
