CHERAS: “Even if you hate cats, there’s no need for you to poison them.”
The Tweet was posted by a man who goes by the name Shaiful, with a photo of a rat trap with fish sprinkled with white powder, believed to be poison at a flat in Cheras.
His post was retweeted over 4,000 times and received over 2,000 likes and reactions from Netizens.
According to Shaiful, he noticed the trap when he returned from work at 10.30pm yesterday.
“Before I go up, I usually will check on some stray cats near my parking spot. Last night, I wanted to feed them, but I couldn’t find the kitten that always waits for me there.
“I was shocked to find a rat trap with fish sprinkled with white powder, probably poison, in a plastic bag,” he said when contacted by Harian Metro.
He added that he went to search for the cats to rescue them.
“I looked for them for almost 20 minutes but couldn’t find any. The security guard, who saw me walking under the flat, informed me that there was an individual who put the trap there to kill the cats.
“There are about six stray cats here. As far as I know, they are not troublesome and there’s no odour issue.
“I just don’t know why someone would do that to the cats,” he said.
Shaiful said he managed to rescue one of the kittens when he continued his search this morning.
“The kitten looked scared. When I tried to captured it and put it inside a pet carrier, it scratched me.
“Alhamdulillah, when I posted this matter on Twitter, many Netizens came forward to adopt the kitten.
“Tomorrow, I will get more details from this individual believed to be responsible for putting the trap. If necessary, I will report this matter to the authorities,” he concluded.
