Seri Petaling mosque tahfiz students to be quarantined at ISM

KUALA LUMPUR: Preparations are underway to house tahfiz students from the Seri Petaling Mosque at the Social Institute of Malaysia (ISM), said Women and Family Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun.

ISM, which is a public training institution under the ministry, was gazetted on March 21 as one of the 409 quarantine facilities set up nationwide to house Malaysians exposed to Covid-19.

Rina said the first group of 123 tahfiz students is expected to arrive at the ISM this afternoon.

“All the tahfiz students, aged 18 to 30, have undergone preliminary health screening.

“They need to be isolated for a certain period as required by the Health Ministry to check on the progress of their health,” she said in a statement today.

Rina added that 80 officers and personnel from various agencies, including from the Welfare Department, ISM, the Health Ministry, the police, the General Operation Force, the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) and the Fire and Rescue Department have been deployed to monitor the tahfiz students at the institute.
