Boy injured in firecracker explosion

KUALA TERENGGANU: An 11-year-old boy was injured while playing with firecrackers near his house in Besut yesterday.

Terengganu Health director Dr Nor Azimi Yunus said the victim has been sent to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital (HUSM) in Kubang Kerian, Kelantan, for treatment.

The victim was said to be lighting the firecracker when it exploded in his hand in the 9.15 pm incident, he said, adding that the boy, who sustained scalding and cuts on the fingers, is reported in stable condition.

The boy is believed to be the first victim to be injured by firecrackers this Ramadan. -- BERNAMA
