PETALING JAYA: Ten people including eight children were killed in an accident involving four vehicles at the USJ Rest and Recuperation (R&R) area, of the North-South Central Link Highway (Elite) heading to Shah Alam, here, last night.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) director Norazam Khamis said the accident involved two Proton Wira cars, a Perodua Axia and a trailer.
He said a team of 12 personnel from the Subang Jaya and Puchong Fire and Rescue Station Puchong were rushed to the scene after receiving a call at 11.42 pm.
"The accident involved 17 victims of which 10 were confirmed dead.
"The dead were a man and a woman, while the other eight involved five boys and three girls," he said in a statement, today.
He said as soon as they arrived at the location, the fire brigade retrieved the victims using special types of equipment.
"A crane was used to lift the trailer. All the victims were successfully removed and handed over to the police.
"However, 10 victims were confirmed killed at the scene," he said.
According to Norazam, the operation ended at 2.40am.
