KUALA LUMPUR: The Gurdwara in Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam have opened their doors to aid beleaguered victims in the two flood-affected urban locations.
The continuous rain for the past two days resulted in extraordinary floods, with many claiming it was the worst the Klang Valley had seen since 1971.
Many restaurants and food delivery services have ceased operations due to flooding and roads being inaccessible.
The Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya is cooking free hot vegetarian meals for flood victims which will be distributed in the Klang Valley area.
Social media platforms have been abuzz with pleas for food and water by stranded flood victims since yesterday thus the Gurdwara Sahib's food aid comes at a crucial time of need.
The free meal or "langgar" is a typical feature of a Gurdwara which is equipped to produce meals on a large scale.
Gurdwara Sahib Petaling Jaya said it welcomes volunteers to help with food preparation and distribution. Those with four-wheel drive vehicles can assist to transport the food to flood-hit areas.
