KOTA BARU: A total of 974 evacuees remained at relief centres in Kelantan as the flood situation in the state improved further today.
The victims, who were from 332 families, are now taking shelter at five relief centres in the Pasir Mas district.
According to the state Welfare Department's portal, the figure was recorded as of 6pm.
With no rain in the east coast state since early this week, only Sungai Golok in Rantau Panjang remained above its warning level.
As of 7.15pm, the river bordering Thailand stood at 8.23m, which is 0.23m above its warning level of 8m.
The water level of other major rivers in the state was back to normal.
Meanwhile, Kelantan police said they were prepared to face any eventuality in the face of possible floods next week.
State deputy police chief Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun said the force's logistics, as well as other assets, would be deployed if there is a sign of another wave of flood in the state.
"All district police chiefs especially those who were affected by the recent flood, have been told to be on alert based on the latest weather forecast.
"In terms of logistics and manpower, we are ready to face the coming flood situation," he told reporters in Pasir Mas today.
