Kedah, Perlis Petron operators bring Aidilfitri cheer to tahfiz students

ALOR SETAR: Petron station operators today brought Hari Raya Aidilfitri cheer to 37 students of a tahfiz religious school under the 'Kedah and Perlis Petron Baju Raya Project'.

Datuk Mohd Zayad Ismail, who represented 27 Petron fuel station operators in the Kedah and Perlis region said the programme was the first post-Covid-19 pandemic charity programme organised by the company.

He said the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme was a joint effort between the station operators and Ihram Islamic Clothing Boutique.

"This programme is one of the many charity programmes we have in line but this is the first one post-pandemic as part of our efforts to give back to society," he said.

Mohd Zayad had earlier presented 'baju raya' to students and 10 teachers of the Maahad Tahfiz Imam Al Jazari.

Also present was Petron regional manager for Kedah and Perlis, Raja Aziem Aziqi Raja Azid.

Mohd Zayad said apart from 'raya' attire, the recipients also took home goodies and 'duit raya'.

"We will also move beyond tahfiz schools as well as we will look to provide charity to other organisations regardless of religious affiliation as we have donors from various backgrounds."

Meanwhile, Maahad Tahfiz Imam Al Jazari founder Muhd Naim Abd Razak praised the Petron operators for organising the programme.

"Alhamdulillah, I would like to thank the operators for making this programme a success.

"I'm sure that after not being able to celebrate Hari Raya for the past two years, they are excited to enjoy the festival with their respective famlies," he said.
